MyMusicStaff-
Cover Teacher Essentials

MyMusicStaff (MMS) is where you'll find your timetable, student information, lesson notes and more.

The steps below are the key tasks you'll need to complete as a cover teacher.

TIP

Open the student's previous lesson notes first - this is your roadmap for the lesson.

STEPS

Log in to MyMusicStaff.

Click Calendar.

Select the correct date.

Your schedule for the day will appear.

  1. Find Your
    Timetable

2. Take
Attendance

On the student's lesson page, click

Mark Attendance.

Select Present or Absent.

Click Save.

3. View Student
MMS Notes

MMS has 3 types of notes:

1) Student (weekly homework)

2) Parent (communication to parent/ Progress Feedback on week 8)

3) Private (student profile/ Term performance link on week 7)

4. View Student
Private Notes

Click on the student's Private note tab.

Read student’s private names (only accessible to staff)

If the student is new or does not have a profile, generate a private note from the template section. This should be completed during the student’s first lesson and updated each week 8 (progress feedback week).

5. Write New
Homework

Click on the student's Student note tab.

Click Lesson Notes.

The previous week’s lesson notes and homework will auto populate. Correct the homework and overwrite the updated notes with the new homework of the week (keep what is still relevant/ or has not been corrected).

If the student is new or does not have a student note (homework), generate a student note from the template section. This should be completed during the student’s first lesson and updated each week.

6. Lesson
material

Students between beginner to Grade 3 should have a method book to work on. If this is the student’s first lesson, check with the reception/course coordinator what method book to assign and advise parents to purchase at reception.

Teachers should print the lesson content and give to the student/parent until they purchase their book.

For copyright purposes, only up to 10% of a book can be photocopied. Please ask the parent/student to purchase their lesson book.

Students Grade 3 and above would usually focus on repertoires.

7. Send/Email
Lesson Notes

After writing/ updating the MMS student note (homework), select the parent/ adult student name and click “save” to email to the homework notes.

Homework notes must be completed during the student’s lesson time. Do this at the end of each activity (by the end of the lesson time). You might want to assign the student a classwork/ revision task while you do this.

If the student/parent would benefit from printed homework you are able to airprint the homework notes for the student to collect at reception. You can ask reception to show you how to do this if needed.
